Suburbman

Buyer Beware

Cordless and confused

Suburbman is home for the six o'clock news
Drove past two hitchhikers on the way
He doesn't talk to strangers, or he does it like a fool
And besides newspapers and the workplace he doesn't have that much to say

Don't let me be a Suburbman
Don't want to grimace at the beggars on the walkway

Sophisticated man living on Dandy Avenue
Surrounded by white fences and sedans
Between him and his neighbors stands no different point of view
And I'd bet you nothing would be noticed if he switched face with his fellow man

Don't let me be a Suburbman
I ain't seeking for it no
I'd rather be a rather normal person
Free and stringless as in hanging from nobody else
Unlike the Suburbman

Trendy man keeps his head well above the ground
On his tractor of the year to mow the lawn
Between abundance and abuse no difference he has found
His 20 bucks will never get to Congo
But it sure keeps his conscience calm

Suburbman is educated just the same
High above the other generations' sounds
For the benefit of the nation
The institutions call his name
But in fact his contribution leave to crumble all the world around

Don't let me be a Suburbman
Don't let me be a Suburbman
Don't want to grimace at them beggars on the walkway
